…or -for the sake of making my 10 year old son understand what it is – blueberry jam tart . Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it though, does it ?
Before children came along , me and hubby spent 2 years in Italy , while he was working as a youth rugby developer there. For our first couple of weeks , until we moved to a more permanent place , we were accommodated at a rental apartment ,above the family that owned it . They did not speak any English and we only knew very basic Italian , so our communication was mainly through food , by pointing at an item and naming it .They would bring breakfast up for us every morning , and freshly baked crostatas were always part of the menu .
The recipe I ed is Pellegrino Artusi’s from the late 1800s ( brought back to the present by emikodavies captivating blog)and there is no fuss, no blind baking , not complicated instructions . Just the best ingredients you can get and a bit of your time.
Lovely with a cup of strong coffee to start the day right !
